By Joe
Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about what happens when your laptop is stolen out of your car or from a cafe?Wouldn't you like that laptop to be fast and quiet, too?You can buy an assortment of very good SSD devices. You can also buy lots of very good FDE (full disk encryption) hard disks, but this drive is currently the only available unit that has both features. You already know why you want an SSD -- because it's *fast*. You could put full disk encryption on top of your nifty SSD, but then your CPU will quickly become the bottleneck for any disk IO and cause your computer to spend a lot of time simply encrypting and decrypting the data.Software encryption is also clunky and hard to do across an entire disk. Doing it in hardware is just as fast as an SSD without encryption, which is *very* fast. This drive is may cost more than your laptop. That's OK. The real value is knowing that the bad guys who steal your awesome laptop won't get away with anything but the empty hardware. This disk was expensive but worth it. It's easy to use. You just set a standard BIOS hard disk password and that's used to unlocked the disk. Two tips:- Do not forget your password. If you do, it is *impossible* to retrieve it. (that's the point, eh?)- Backup often. When you do forget your password or have your laptop stolen you'll need another copy of your data handy.

I bought this SSD just last week, as I was looking to upgrade my previous 128GB SSD. Must say that the high price was a barrier, but I had no choice. But I'm really happy I got it. Its fast and capacious and safe! :) Good for another 2-3 years!

By Anthony C.
I had some reservations about ordering this drive for my X301 (2776-LFG) due to some comments on other websites saying that they couldn't get the larger drives to work on the X301. However, I did manage to find an article on the Lenovo website which directly referenced the model / part number. So I ordered it and it works perfectly. No problems at all.
