By Y. Muthafar
Actual size is 59.9 GB, I got this for my ASUS G50VT-A2 laptop to run as the primary HDD instead of the original 7200 rpm Seagate that came with it, vista takes about 15 GB(will upgrade to windows 7 as soon as I get my free copy!) other programs that I have installed took like 25 or something GB so the size being at 64 GB was perfect for me since I have a secondary 320GB 7200 rpm Seagate. If your hard drive has 5400 rpm I'm sure your gonna notice a huge difference in performance, for 7200 rpm users there is a noticeable increase in performance too windows boots in about 15 to 20 seconds, program response is almost instant ( Nothing heavy like photoshop ) I'm sure that users of heavy applications will really appreciate the gain in speed, it's really quiet and cool, so quiet in fact that I'm starting to notice the sound of my other HDD when it kicks in! plus it's supposed to save power.Installation was simple enough just like a normal 2.5 inch drive, I first recovered windows and ran into some problems, I then formatted the drive and cloned my old drive using the apricorn USB HDD adapter and it was smooth as a whistle, started immediately without any problems.Been using it for almost a week now and it's excellent, there is no going back to regular drives after SSD's.I got this extreme series because it has better read/write speed than the P series so be sure to check on that if you're looking for an SSD, also CORSEAIR has a better reputation than all of the other manufacturers out there (except intel) it's all over the internet. In my opinion it's well worth it's price.

I have installed this SSD only a few days ago, so I cannot comment on the long term performance or durability. As most of you know, the much talked about topic regarding the SSD is their "write" performance after some use.I don't have Win7 and the firmware of this ssd doesn't (yet) suport the TRIM function. But in my case (my configuration: winXP, and IDE compatible mode in bios) I have found that the utility Wiper.exe works (for more info search the net) without the need to do longwinded processes (just run it from within Windows). This utility was written by the controller manufacturer Indilinx, it is in Beta state and i guess it will never be officially released, and isn't officially supported by Corsair (but other manufacturers allow you to download it).One warning to some of you:You may read suggestions to format the partition with 32K clusters for better performance. In case you are using winXP or older operating systems there is the strong possibility that you cannot boot from a NTFS partition formatted with clusters bigger than the default 4K.You may want to try, but if you encounter problems I suggest you go back to the default values of 4K.Performance:You can read a lot of benchmarks and my tests can only confirm them, but i think that real usage impressions are sometimes better than benchmark:My boot time is gone from 1m40s to 40s (including bios process).Applications start much quicker (almost istantly) and even simple operations, like browsing the net, feel much quicker (I don't know if it is just a placebo effect or is due to access time to the cache). The only drawback of the whole thing is that (like any other improvement) the feeling of "quickness" doesn't last long. You soon get "spoiled"... and going back to other PCs seems as if they are painfully slow ;-)
