Dont worry about the firmware. It will either be correct or incredibly easy to update as you will see below.I bought this drive from another seller for a slightly higher after tax price. Wish Amazon would have dropped the price a day sooner! I had it installed 3 hours after buying it using the "clone drive" method. I decided to forgo the technically superior route of a clean install and take the expedient road instead. Here is a condensed version of the installation process:1. Make sure you current disk space usage is smaller than your new ssd and that your BIOS is set ACHI for the HD interface (hit F2 on boot start up to access).2. This box does not have the needed cable for data migration (or cloning) via a laptop usb port. Buy one. I bought an enclosure so I could convert the hard drive into a portable. You will need a SATA to USB cable or hard drive enclosure. These are cheap about $8 or less.3. Attach or enclose your ssd and attach to your laptop's usb port.4. Check to see if it is attached by looking for a USB device (you should see it as it is installing and then on the task bar) it will not show up as hard drive under Windows Explorer.5. Down load and run the migration software available from Intel for free (see included miniCD).6. Cloning process may take over an hour and will go quicker if you clean up and delete unneeded files first.7. When cloning is finished swap drives8. Run Disk Tools which is another Freebie from Intel and use Optimizer to adjust TRIM, Defrag and download and install the latest FIRMWARE.Now your done.My boot time went from 2.5 minutes to 40 seconds. Windows EI went from 4.5 to 7.0.No problems.11/27 make sure you get this on sale with the rebate for a net $70!

I had a 80 GB Intel SSD for about two years, and wanted to raid to increase capacity. I ordered this drive and added to my current 80gb and setup as a Raid 0, windows performance index is now maxed out at 7.9 out of 7.9 on the Disk Drive speed. Boot time from when you enter your windows password is about 2 seconds. What Else can a person ask for, upgrade to the Intel SSD, you can't go wrong.

I got what I ordered at a fair price, delivered as promised, thanks vendor.The 320 isn't the latest & greatest, but it works. I heard of kinks in earlier releases, but not here. Literally, I plugged in, turned on, bios said hello, and we were off to the install races.And it is quiet. Duh, no moving parts. The laptop's battery time has been increased, the boot time is smoke'n, and program load speed is appreciated.Good use of a few dollars, took an older laptop and gave it more time.
