Product Description
The RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD is an innovative storage solution for enthusiasts and prosumers to make the most of their desktops and workstations, upgrading the original architecture to deliver unprecedented speeds and higher capacities. The RevoDrive family gets its edge by eliminating the SATA II (3Gbps) bottleneck and leveraging a PCIe x4 interface, delivering superior speeds over 740MB/s sequential speeds and random small file writes up to 120,000 IOPS, nearly triple the throughput of other high-end SATA based solutions. The RevoDrive X2 uses an onboard RAID 0 design by employing four SandForce-1200 controllers to maximize data access and bandwidth. Unlike competing PCIe solutions the RevoDrive X2 is bootable, ensuring the satisfaction of quicker start-ups, load times, and computing, all while promoting cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. Available in 100GB to 960GB capacities, the OCZ RevoDrive X2 provides ample room for data warehousing, applications, multimedia files, and operating systems. The RevoDrive X2 is backed by a 3-year warranty and tech support for the ultimate peace of mind for your high-performance hardware investment. While the RevoDrive X2 will simply plug and play for the vast majority of platforms for these particular motherboards OCZ recommends the following: -Asus Crosshair IV – Please check with motherboard manufacturer for BIOS update to enable boot over PCIe. -Biostar T-Power I45: RevoDrive is only detected in Slot 1 AND only if a PCIe GPU is used. -DFI DK-X58-T3EH6: Not detected in PCIe Slot 2 (x4 slot). -EVGA X758 SLI – Please check with motherboard manufacturer for BIOS update to enable Boot over PCIe. -Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD7 Not detected in slots 1,3,4 (it is detected in 2,5,6) -XFX 780i SLI – Bios must be upgraded to P09 (or later).

By Anton Punt
During the initial 8 months to date that I had this drive I was simply delighted with it. AMAZING performance!However...Today my computer would simply not boot up! After investigation I saw that one of the 4 "disks" that make up the RAID 0 performance drive will not register. All data lost and my drive means nothing.I am disappointed at the reliability. Think twice to purchase this.I am now hoping to return this, but do not have the original packaging.I will post an update.Disappointing!

By epiekarc
I've had the 480GB OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD Solid State Disk (read 740MB/sec - write 720MB/sec) for over 6 months now.The initial setup was not simple. I could not perform a restore from my current HDD. I did attempt a restore, but the performance was extremely poor. It was slower than my HDD by far. Once I clean installed Windows 7 x64 and installed all my programs, performance was still pitiful. After a call to OCZ, they asked me to update my BIOS and see if that fixed it. I did so, but nothing changed. The technical support department at OCZ was helpful, but not able to really fix the problem. After googling the issue, I found a product that would tweak Windows for SSD. The product recommended letting Windows set idle for at least 24 hours to fix the SSD. I left the computer on for the whole weekend, upon returning Monday morning, performance had significantly increased. For about 5 months, the SSD performed extremely well. Fast, quiet and unnoticed.A week ago I walked into my office and found my computer sitting at the boot screen. It turns out my SSD died. This product relies on a RAID 0 of 4 drives, one of them has died. I backup my SSD nightly, but I doubt that'll really help, since I was unable to initially deploy this SSD from a backup. So I'll be stuck reloading windows, again.I called OCZ immediately; they said I needed to open a ticket through their website. I did so, and it's taken a week for them to escalate this to an RMA. I still don't have a shipping label to return this SSD with or confirmation that they've sent out the new drive.I bought this drive for a business application. The 2 million hour MTBF was key in my decision making processes. I've not only been let down by a bad product, but a poor customer support team.Although this drive is very fast, it's useless if it doesn't work. I would recommend you look elsewhere, especially to a different company.

By Maiken2051
If you want the fastest possible storage for your PC and the sticker shock doesn't scare you away this is the drive for you. It truly is incredibly fast, noticeably quicker than a normal SSD and not even really comparable to a mechanical hard drive. Of course for ~$3 per GB it ought to be something special, since at the time I'm writing this review you can get a normal SSD for under $2/GB and mechanical drive for under 5 _cents_ per GB.It's long been known in enthusiast circles that replacing your PC's boot drive with a SSD is one of the most cost-effective ways to make your machine feel faster during real-world use. The RevoDrive just takes that one step further by cutting the motherboard's disk controller out of the data path -- it moves data directly over the PCIE bus. A RevoDrive will get you a 7.9 on the Windows 7 Experience hard disk performance meter and make your apps load with lightning speed. For example, Photoshop comes up in just over two seconds on my PC.If it wasn't obvious from the pricetag, the RevoDrive is aimed at people who want extreme performance and are willing to pay for it. It's also intended for people who are used to tinkering with their PCs: if you are uncomfortable with tasks such as moving around expansion cards, changing BIOS settings, and reinstalling your OS with custom drivers, you should probably stay away from the RevoDrive. The installation instructions and support forums are terse and intended for experienced users.A couple of notes in passing. Firstly, you need a free PCIE x4 (or better) slot for the card. Secondly, the RevoDrive uses a large Option ROM; internally it implements RAID 0. You may have to disable your motherboard's built-in RAID controller (if it has one) to be able to use the RevoDrive. You can still use the motherboard SATA ports, you just need to switch them to AHCI Native mode in the BIOS rather than RAID mode. Most motherboards don't have the address space for both their own RAID Option ROM and the RevoDrive's Option ROM.I had no problem installing the drive and it has worked flawlessly. As long as you're in the RevoDrive's target audience, this is a great product!
