Dell tech support tried to talk me out of getting a solid-state drive and recommended only antiquated disk drives as updates to the original 80GB 7200rpm disk drive in my Latitude D820. Boy, were they wrong! This product is amazing and does everything it says it would do. Fast startups and shutdowns (3 times faster than with a hard disk), superfast copies of files to disk and reads from disk to memory, and you can use the enclosure to run any (much cheaper) 2.5-in internal disk drive as an exeternal drive for backup. It also consumes less power and runs longer on battery. The only difficulty I had was that I had to clone my old hard drive twice before I succeeded: something must have been missing in the instructions about the need to disconnect the old hard drive before rebooting following the end of the cloning process, but I got the help I needed by contacting the manufacturer. And it comes with a 5-year warranty.
