By J. Lin
I decided to buy this drive over others because the noted max read/write is higher than comparable units on amazon costing upwards of 20 dollars more. When you are talking about something that costs less than 200 the difference comes out to be more than 10%.I bought this SSD as a last ditch effort to keep my old gaming PC going (SATAII not SATAIII) so I can't vouch for performance benchmarks but my overall impression is that SSD is quite the upgrade over HDD. For me most noticeable difference is SC2 load times dropped. (The one game where you have a dedicated screen to tell you how fast other users load)Three things to note:1. The holes in the bracket are about 1.68 and 2.38 inches apart. I have an Antec P182 case and it wouldn't install into the removable HD bay because of case design. It fits fine in my other case so you might want to double check yours.2. It took me a while to realize SSD scope is on the Transcend website (URL is on the side of the box). Use SSD scope as an easy way to check you have TRIM enabled on windows, this is important for SSD drives.3. System clone is included in SSD scope software. But if you have some time just re-install windows on this baby, way faster than HDD and you will enjoy fresh install of windows even more.

By soccerfloridian
I bought this to replace the HDD in my Macbook Pro but ended up keeping the old HDD as a Bootcamp drive in the optical bay. One thing to note if you plan on doing this: Install your SSD into the main bay and use the old HDD in your optical bay. The optical bay in mine has a 3 Gb connection which will bottleneck an SATA III drive and word in the forums has it that even with a 6 Gb optical bay connection you'll run into some crashing with SSDs.That all said... This. Drive. Is. Awesome. I actually wasn't expecting much of a difference when I decided to switch to SSD. However, after a week with this drive I'm hooked and buying two more for my desktop. After installing a fresh copy of Mac OS X Mountain Lion and reinstalling all my apps it runs like a new computer. Boot up is in 22 seconds and apps like Microsoft Office and Starcraft open within seconds. Video and photo editing are a breeze. I have an i7 with 16 GB of ram but with a 7200 HDD and frankly the core2duo MBP with this SSD is a more pleasant experience. I did some research before choosing this model and for the price, you can't find a better drive period. Benchmarks coming soon...

Just got this as an upgrade for the Toshiba SSD my Macbook Pro came with and wow is it fast! Build quality is really good too with an all metal enclosure. A quick Blackmagic test confirms the read/write speed of this SSD to be on par or faster than most other SandForce 2281 driven SATAIII SSDs (such as the Intel 330/520, Sandisk Extreme, series). Response time when using Aperture has decreased noticeably and basic tasks such as file transfers to my Optibay 1 TB HDD have become significantly faster. As of today, this drive has the lowest price amongst all other SATA 3 500MB/s+ R/W SSDs on Amazon. The 3 year warranty is pretty good as well. Judging from my past dealings with Transcend, I don't have anything to worry about. If you're in the market for an SSD this one is a pretty good choice.
