Another follow up 6/2/2012: Well... after almost a full 18 months I've concluded that either I'm lucky ...or the others who have had their drives die are unlucky. Maybe OCZ has cut the quality, I don't know but I'm about to buy another for an older computer I have.... so I guess I'll find out.Follow up 8/19/2011: I couldn't be happier with the OCZ SSD, it's still blazing along at the same speed as when installed (maybe even a bit faster). So far the SSD is proving to be as reliable as any HDD..Original review:I have a self built desk top that was already speedy but now it loads programs literaly "in a flash".Hopefully it will prove to have the longevity of it's HDD brethren. I'm using the SSD as the bootable drive and have my mass storage on larger HDD. As the SSD's price/GB comes down I may include it as part of my mass storage, but for now... I'm happy with the system as is.For those who are wanting to try the SSD I've added the following info.... I used a cloning software to clone my old drive. "Acronis True Image" works perfectly in cloning drives, the resulting clone is an EXACT copy of your drive. When you switch drives EVERYTHING is there, this also includes viruses if you have any, so make sure your system is clean when you do this. The process is quicker than doing a fresh install plus you don't have to reload any of your software, this is really helpful if you have software such as microsoft office, etc.The optimum setup is to use the SSD as a bootable drive and use a HDD as a mass storge device.Since I installed the SSD... I'm not sitting waiting for a program to load and wondering to myself "what can I do to speed up this thing" ..... I honestly do not feel a need for any upgrade in the near future...I've recently run a few games on it and the performance is flawless...I noticed another reviewer is wanting to blame the technology for loss of information, I'm not naive enough to think that it can't fail, I've had HDD failure within one week of operation, so ALL of my important info is backed up on multiple devices.

Among my nerd friends OCZ is not known for reliability, but I took a chance and got this anyway. Arrived fine and Win7 install went well. But it started acting up a few weeks later. A few weeks after that the thing crashed for good. Cant get it working at all now. All drives should be stress tested as soon as you get them, especially Solid State, but OCZ is routinely so poor there's no need to even take the risk. Get an Intel G2 instead.OCZ has a poor customer care department. They refused to help me aside from asking some technical questions. Said go the retailer. Its out of the return window by a week so no deal there. Now have a 190 dollar doorstop and its actually not much good for that.

By Brent Burzycki
So I purchased this drive on 4/2011 and today 5/12 arrived home to a randomly rebooted computer and a drive with Amber and Red led's on. This is usually the sign of a dead drive.I think I need to think twice about another SSD purchase based on the fact it seems to be totally unrecoverable. At least with ye old HD's there might be a chance to recover. We will see how they respond to the RMA request. No signs showing possible failure up till the failure today.God bless online backups that I hope were current at the time of failure. One year just seems like a very short life for any drive no matter the technology.Loved it when it worked thou...
