Product Description
Based on a cutting-edge new architecture, Agility 2 Solid State Drives deliver unprecedented performance while maintaining an affordable storage solution for early adopters looking to update their systems with the latest technology. OCZ designed the Agility 2 to excel in both sequential and random read/write rates to take your PC or notebook productivity to the next level, featuring superb 4k random writes up to 10,000 IOPS to give a performance edge over the previous generation. Using the latest controller technology, Agility 2 not only provides a faster, more responsive PC experience, but promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With solid performance coupled with supreme reliability, the Agility 2 is designed to push the envelope in storage technology for those who place a premium on speed, reliability, and effciency, but demand the affordability of MLC flash memory. Built with SATA 3Gb/s, the Agility 2 Series easily integrates into today's mobile and desktop platforms and features TRIM support to optimize the performance over the drive's lifespan as the ultimate Windows 7 notebook or desktop upgrade.

Note: You don't need to buy 2.5 to 3.5" adapters for this, as it has one in the box already. I somehow missed that in the online listing. These drives are exceptional. I used to be into seagate cheetah 10k and 15k RPM drives, but these Agility 2's blow them away. I've got two in RAID 0 on a cheap RAID card (which gives me about 110GB--plenty for what I'm using it for), and have noticed significant performance increase in anything that involves disk reads. Not bad for less than $300 for the two drives and the card combined. The only thing I miss is the clicking noise. It's hard to tell when the computer is thinking, except the CPU fan varies sometimes. Small price to pay!

I bought this SSD because I read about it being one of the fastest SSDs out there. I was not disappointed. Running the AJA System test, I reached its claim of 285MBPS reads and 275MBPS writes. I have owned this drive for two months and the performance is consistent with no loss in speed. I am running OS X on it, which doesn't support TRIM which means the performance will suffer a little over time. A simple fix for that is to just reinstall the OS on it when it becomes too slow. For now this drive is performing admirably. Highly recommended.

Moving my OS and swap partitions from a physical hard drive to an Agility 2 Series drive boosted my boot-up performance dramatically. What used to take nearly one full minute from logon screen to "system idle" now takes 13 seconds. Once the price for SSD becomes more competitive, I plan to swap out all my "legacy" HDD's for SSD's. (Can't wait to compare World of Warcraft load times once that happens!)
