5The Sweet Spot for Laptop Storage
By Scoot MaGroot
This product delivers. When shopping for my new laptop, I struggled with the pros and cons of adding an SSD drive. With boot up speeds clocked at 30 seconds or lower coupled with a big boost in application loading, SSD is the silver bullet for any slow PC. The price tag will make you wince however. Not do you have to pay dearly with your hard earned cash, but you also sacrifice a big chunk of storage. As of July 2011, a 160GB SSD will cost you $320 compared to a 500GB HDD at $80. In other words: one of third of the storage for quadruple the price--ouch.If price is no object, you're still in a pinch: You're down a harddrive bay. Unless you forego an optical drive for a SSD/HDD combo, you're stuck with a teeny SSD. And never mind a RAID0 / RAID1 setup. What's a user to do? Choose speed or choose storage?Enter mSata. Instead of your laptop's PCI Express Mini WWAN card, you can install an Intel mSata card instead. With the right screwdriver and a disassembly guide, installing an mSata card on my laptop was pretty painless. The BIOS picked it up without a problem and it was operational within minutes. Your mileage may vary, so do your homework. And while you're at it, add some imaging software to your shopping list to migrate your OS properly. The result? I have a laptop that boots under 25 seconds, loads applications in a snap and completes over two dozen startup services in a blink of an eye. My 80GB mSata SDD boot drive coupled with my 600GB RAID0 volume is humming through tasks like a well-oiled machine. My desktop can finally retire, mSata is the sweet spot for both laptop speed and storage.(Note: Currently my mSata drive has about 28.8GB free space. For Windows 7, moving your User Files to a non-system drive is both incomplete and painful. Because of this, I will not endorse the 40GB version of this drive)

5Never been so happy with a SSD
By Geoffrey Glaze
I've been through a number of painful SSD upgrades, dealing with all sorts compatibility issues between different disks and laptops, firmware versions, etc. So I can tell you from experience, SSD upgrades don't always go this smoothly! But this one did. I upgraded the drive on my new Acer Iconia W500 Tablet, which comes with only a 32GB drive. I pried the tablet open (this is the hardest part). I popped the old drive out and the new one in - this is a matter of unscrewing one screw, removing a protective anti-static cover, and taking the drive out, very similar to replacing RAM. I did a fresh installation of Windows 8 (dev preview) from scratch. Everything went smoothly, and as quick as I'd expect for a fast SSD.A few notes - the drive originally reported 74.5GB of unallocated space when the installation began. After formatting, it was down to 74.1GB free space, with the 350MB system reserved partition. Finally after Windows 8 installation, we have 65.5GB free. Also I want to note - although this drive is described as "Oem" and doesn't even mention Intel in the title, I can tell you that it is in fact the same genuine Intel drive that is being sold for a bit more as retail, and it does not look like what is pictured - it actually has the proper Intel label on the drive itself, just as you would expect with the retail one. The only thing that seemed "OEM" about it is the box it came in, which looks a bit generic. The label on the drive shows that the model number is SSDMAEMC080G2.Packing was excellent, very protective, and shipping was very quick. I ordered expedited, late in the day, and expected to have it in a couple of days, but it was there the next morning.I've been up and running for a couple days now, no problems at all. I couldn't be happier with this little drive. There are a few recent 120GB drives available out there now, but for at least double the price of this one. So for the price, I think this is the winner for now.

5very happy with the performance.
By M. Elamrani
Installed on my newly purchased Lenovo T420S. Remove 2 screws from the back of the laptop, and you will see RAM and Wireless card, and the empty slot is eSATA. It was pretty to install. Restart laptop, press F1 or F2 to enter bios, and goto boot, there it is. system recognize this drive without any problem. Installed Win7, and the windows experience index of Primary hard disk is 7.7!!!, which is higher than my i7 desktop. My desktop has a OCZ 90GB SATA II 2.5" ssd, and the hard drive is only rated at 7.1This is my 2nd ssd, so no surprise, and install is easy. Highly recommend
