I had one of these, worked great in an external USB case, but never worked inside a laptop. I suspect that this was because this drive is SATA II, while the laptop is capable of SATA III. Even though everything is supposed to be compatible (just runs at slower speeds), It would just not see the device at boot, so it was something conflicting in the bios. Would up returning it and buying a Samsung SSD (twice the capacity for ~$10 more + SATA III), which seems to work great.
