Not So Great MacBook Air Rev.A upgrade

I purchased this for a Rev.A Apple Macbook Air. Im noticing a significant jerk / hang on my laptop while in operation. After much investigation ive confirmed the issue to be with the random write performance for 4k block writes which are pretty shocking at less than 1.0mb per sec.The manufacturer have recommended a firmware upgrade which is only available for DOS which is impossible to get going on my Mac. They have offered to do it for me, but this involves shipping it back to them in china at my own cost.
