Product Description
The Next Generation of Bullet Proof SSD Upgrades Have Arrived
MyDigitalSSD proudly introduces the BP4 50mm SATA III 6Gb/s mSATA Solid State Drive for many Tablets, UltraBooks, Hybrids (HDD/mSATA Notebooks), and Desktop PCs.
BP4 SSDs are over provisioned featuring improved Random Read/Write performance and IOPS, extended performance endurance (no slow down no matter how much data you put on it), prolonged drive life, reliability, and low power consumption at the unequaled price to performance ratio synonymous with MyDigitalSSD Bullet Proof SSDs.
Backwards compatible with SATA II applications; let the BP4 increase your productivity up to 70X by eliminating the bottle-neck of stock hard drives.
About the Controller
MyDigitalSSD BP4 SSDs feature the Phison S-Module III S8 controller to deliver all the advantages of Flash Disk technology with the Serial ATA III interface, fully compliant with standard mSATA form factor. The S-Module III S8 is based on the mSATA form factor which is generated by JEDEC, designed to operate at a maximum operating frequency of 300MHz with 40MHz external crystal.
The S8 can reach 500MB/s throughput based on ONFI/Toggle NAND (with DDR3 cache enabled and measured by CrystalDiskMark) with markedly lower power consumption than that of a traditional Hard Drive.

By PhilWrir
When building a system, I generally tend to stray toward the Performance end of the spectrum rather than the value and bang-for-buck areas. So when I say that the BP4 satisfies me, I mean it.I purchased the little guy for use in my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420, which has both a 2.5" HDD bay and an MSATA port.I had been using an Intel X25M G2, But seeing as I use the laptop for a fair amount of traveling, I wanted the ability to store some of my music an movie collection in addition to having the speed and response of an SSD. Being able to put the 500GB back into this little machine has made my commuting MUCH easier and MUCH more enjoyable. After doing a lot of reading, and being supremely frustrated by the lack of availability of MSATA drives from larger manufacturers, I did some reading on this unit and It struck me as a good balance between price and performance for mobile computing. After all, its just a laptop, Not my workstation.Installation of Win 7 Ultimate x64 was a breeze, and after running all updates and installing all the software I use on a daily basis, I still have about 74GB free.I was also pleased that for being an entry level MSATA drive, the BP4 came with screws for securing it in the slot, and was packaged fairly well.As for performance, Its an SSD. Once in a halfway decent computer they all end up feeling very similar. Its just as snappy as I was expecting based on some of the better reviews I read, and on inspection before installation the build and soldering quality appeared top notch.I have uploaded an AS SSD and a Crystal Disk Mark screenshot from my laptop to help those of you who want performance numbers. Its Mediocre at best, but still more than fast enough for any laptops hardware.

By E.Yang
I recently purchased an Acer Iconia W700 Core-i5 Windows 8 tablet. While I *love* the tablet, for budgetary reasons, I chose the 64 GB model. Acer wants an additional $100-200 (depending on where you shop) for the 128 GB version. Imagine if they offered a 256 GB version what that mark-up would be! I did some research prior to my purchase, and I knew it used an upgradeable mSata SSD. In addition, unlike the Surface Pro, the Acer W700's SSD can be upgraded, albeit, not as easy as a laptop/ultrabook. So my search for a 240-256 GB mSata SSDs began.Let me first say that there are faster, better performing (read faster in benchmarks) mSata solutions out there. The 4 solutions I found were the MyDigitalSSD Smart/BP4, Mushkin Atlas, Crucial m4, and Plextor M5S SSDs. I immediately crossed off all Sandforce driven drives from my list due to the numerous firmware issues and "fakes" being reported by users. Intel also makes mSata solutions based on Sandforce which I would've considered, but they were out of my price range and hard to find. I was left with the BP4, m4, and M5S. Too bad Samsung doesn't make any current mSata solutions. The Crucial and Plextor both utilize a Marvel-based controller, which are very good and reliable. However, the m4 was very hard to find. I ended up seeing them only available on eBay for reasonable prices, but still $20-40 more than the BP4. Also, it appears that Crucial will eventually retire the m4 with another solution since that Marvel controller has been superseded by another model. The Plextor M5s uses the newer Marvel chipset, and it is very fast (according to the specs), but I was on a budget. The MyDigitalSSD BP4 was extremely tempting for the price, but Phison S8 controller? Phison is a big name in the storage controller business, but they are mainly known for their USB flash drive chipsets NOT SATA, and certainly not SATA SSD. I rolled the dice.I ordered the drive on Monday with 2 day shipping from Amazon, and I received the drive on Wednesday. After carefully taking apart my W700, and upgrading the mSata drive, and booted to a USB flash drive and reinstalled Windows 8, drivers, etc. Ran WEI, and the disk came back with a score of 8.1 out of a possible 8.9 (very fast indeed). I now also have a respectable 190 GB of free space on my tablet too after reinstalling all of my apps and updates.I don't know about the long-term reliability of the Phison chipset, but the drive uses Toshiba Type-B 19nm NAND which is very fast. Also, online reviews have been most favorable, and I have not seen or experienced any issues with the SSD in my system.I don't know anything about this company, so who knows if they will even be around to stand by their 3 year warranty. There is very little information about them on the web. This is really the only thing that bothers me, but if the product is truly "BulletProof" then I'll never need to contact them. :)Pros: Fastest/biggest mSata for this price point, Toshiba NAND memory, 240 GB of SSD storageCons: Little/unknown manufacturer and support, shows up as "SATA SSD" in Windows Device Manager

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE 120GB SSD. It says that right under the title but I can see how it could mislead when Amazon puts my review under all of the SSD sizes.I was somewhat skeptical at first about mydigitalssd, since I consider it a no-name budget brand. Plus, the BP4 is extremely new, so I know I am a guinea pig for this SSD. There are some reviewers that I can tell give overly-positive reviews about these SSDs that have to do with advertising and sales, and not the reality of the drives. However, I found enough real-user reviews of the Bullet Proof 3 SSD that I had faith that this BP4 SSD would perform just as well. So far I'm very pleased. As with other budget brands, the low price may cost a user in customer service or quality assurance. However, if gone through the right channels, customer service should be attainable. What won me over is the active staff member from MyDigitalSSD here on Amazon and knowing that they pay close attention to Amazon reviews on their products, so I can reach them quickly here. It may not be as big of a company as Crucial (I was looking to buy the M4) but the benchmarks of the BP3 are better than the M4 for the most part. Now about the SSD. When it came in the mail, it came in a tiny box with 2 screws for mounting into the mSATA slot, which is great for users that need them. (I didnt need the screws my laptop manufacturer included them) Formatted capacity is 111GB which includes the manufacturer allotted over provisioning. After running read/write performance tests, this SSD really does a great job. It completely saturates my laptops mSATA channel (which is unfortunately only SATAII and not SATAIII) at ~240MB/sec read and write. I imagine those who are looking to use this on a SATAIII channel will be more than satisfied, especially for the value price point of this drive.5 stars for value, 4 for performance, 4 for customer service. To me the best overall package for the lowest price.
