This drive is perfect for a boot drive. Running ubuntu 12.04, plug and play. Tested and getting 247MB/s write speeds without tweaking anything. Like the other guy said, know what you are buying and you will be happy.Okay, almost at the two month mark, things have become slow. Pretty much the same speed as a traditional hdd. Spend a couple of extra bucks and get a better drive.

SSD's are the cheapest way to extend the life of an older PC/Laptop. I put this in a four year old Dell Vostro and reinstalled Windows Vista. Boot up time was cut in half. Office loaded faster and ran faster. I expected a better increase, but for the price it is quite good. Plus these are not high-end drives, so if you want to pay more you CAN get faster. But I didn't want to spend alot.Bought two and put the second one in a Linux box (Ubuntu), and that speed increase was much more significant. But that's the difference between Vista and Linux.Arrived quickly, read/write speeds were consistent with published rates, as I ran benchmarks to confirm.

this is just perfect! you can turn on or off your computer beside 5~7sec only. But make sure that if you buy extra mount for this, must check it's fit. I bought one but it was not fit. don't believe the amazon recommendation.
