About the Controller
MyDigitalSSD BP4 SSDs feature the Phison S-Module III S8 controller to deliver all the advantages of Flash Disk technology with the Serial ATA III interface, fully compliant with standard mSATA form factor. The S-Module III S8 is based on the mSATA form factor which is generated by JEDEC, designed to operate at a maximum operating frequency of 300MHz with 40MHz external crystal.
The S8 can reach 500MB/s throughput based on ONFI/Toggle NAND (with DDR3 cache enabled and measured by CrystalDiskMark) with markedly lower power consumption than that of a traditional Hard Drive.

Without reiterating the benchmarks from thessdreview, this SSD performs as advertised.I am using it at SATA I connection speed discontinued Gateway desktop with Windows XP(probably only for a few months before my work upgrades my computer), so I can't say about the maximum transfer speed, but this drive still gives all the performance benefits that you could expect from an SSD. Instant-loadng Microsoft Office, halved(or less) boot and shutdown times, snappy responses on applications.I've used about 5 brands of SSD's- OWC, Sandisk, Crucial, Intel 520 and Plextor- and although I slightly favor Plextor because of my terrific past experience with Plextor ODD's, this is by no means a half-baked product. At reasonable prices like this, this could be my choice for upgrading one of my older machines any day.PS: I'll update my review in case anything happens to my drive, though :)

By DGregory
I have an older MacBook (13.3", Late 2008), still in good condition but over time it had become very slow to boot up and use. After helping a couple of people at work install SSD drives in their laptops, I decided to see what an SSD could do for the old MacBook. I chose this SSD because the cost was reasonable for an older laptap and also because of previous reviews and the vendor's reputation. A Google search found several articles with good instructions for the MacBook and the entire install took only a few hours (most time was in the restore process). When finished, the results were amazing! Boot time went from about 1 1/2 minutes to less than 30 seconds and program loading and web browser is much faster than before. I am extremely happy with the results and the MacBook escaped retirement!

Replaced the stock drive in my Dell laptop with this solid state drive, and I am astonished how fast my machine runs now. Even with the old drive defragged, it was s-l-o-w. This one cold boots in a few seconds, way way faster than the several minutes the stock drive took.EDIT: Installed drive in my Dell Studio laptop with Windows 7 Pro & 4 GB ram. The drive IS fast, BUT it freezes up occasionally - usually for 3 to 5 minutes. During that time, the HDD light is lit up continuously and the computer is completely unusable. After the wait, the drive and computer are back to normal. Very occasionally, the drive will freeze up and after 4 or 5 minutes the system crashes with the Blue Screen of Death.I have emailed the MyDigitaDiscount twice to seek a solution, but they have not responded.
