By Andres Gallardo
The drive came in the typical PNY minimalist box containing only the drive itself and a very short right-angle SATA connector; no 2.5" - 3.5" bracket adapter included. After installing Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on it and running serval benchmarks on the drive, I found it to compete well with the popular Samsung 840 (non-Pro) series of SSDs. Below are my results:-Crystal Disk MarkPNY Prevail Elite 120 GBRead: 483.1 MB/sWrite: 455.6 MB/sSAMSUNG 840 Series 500 GBRead: 505.9 MB/sWrite: 333.5 MB/s---------------------------------------------AS SSD BenchmarkPNY Prevail Elite 120 GBRead: 482.3 MB/sWrite: 383.2 MB/sSAMSUNG 840 Series 500 GBRead: 517.2 MB/sWrite: 341.5 MB/s---------------------------------------------ATTO Disk BenchmarkPNY Prevail Elite 120 GBRead: 530.2 MB/sWrite: 493.7 MB/sSAMSUNG 840 Series 500 GBRead: 559.2 MB/sWrite: 334.2 MB/sCONS: The only issue I have with the drive is the fragility of the SATA data connector. I used the cable that came with the PNY drive, but upon connecting and disconnecting I noticed the plastic shroud surrouding the connector pins on the drive had gotten stuck on the cable. I've never seen this happen before! It seemed odd since I didn't use any force to connect the cable to drive. I connected the cable back to the drive and found no issues upon operation. The connectors seem to be making contact well despite the plastic shroud not being on the drive itself. The drive is rated for a Read of 550 MB/s and Write of 520 MB/s. In my testing I never found the drive actually hit those speeds on the random read and writes. A little dissapointing.PROS: Fast enough for the price and better Random Write IOPS performance than the Samsung 840 500GB (PNY is rated for 85k compared to the 70k on the Samsung 840 500GB drive). 5 year warranty upon registration is nice when most other manufacturers are offering 3 year warranties.CONCLUSION: If you can find one for under $120, it's a bargain. Look for a rebate, I got mine for 89.99 after a $20 rebate. I returned my Samsung 840 drive and ordered two more of these. Hope that helps!

By E. K.
I installed this as the primary drive in my MacBook Pro. Installation was uneventful and fairly smooth, though this was not my first hard disk installation by any means. I chose to remove my SuperDisk (optical) drive and use a caddy so I could retain my HDD as a secondary drive.I freshly installed OS X Mountain Lion from a USB drive and I was off and running (and very quickly I might add). I did not benchmark it or anything spectacular. I have been using it for over a month and it has not given any problems. Of course, one of my biggest factors in buying this drive is reliability, and I am hoping it lives up to its advertised warranty.
