This is the earlier generation of turbo series and does not have auto trim built in. But you can send trim commands through a exe file downloadable from OCZ.I made the mistake of flashing the SSD using the Vertex normal series firmware causing it to lose its performance. Had to RMA it but fortunately OCZ replaced it FOC.Super fast SSD. Compared to my WD Raptor, this OCZ SSD flies! My Windows 8 64bit OS startup time is less than 30 secs from bootup. Highly recommended if you have the cash for it.But I do recommend going for the 120GB instead of this 60GB version even though you gotta fork out more money.

Originally very happy with the ocz sata2 Vertex Turbo 60 gb drive as it took boot time from power on to Fios internet 50 seconds vs. 2 min. with mechanical drive. After 18 months, the drive no longer was visible in bios. All programs, files and pictures were lost. (Did have backup).Ocz support was frustrating. They had put my status on hold and never sent RMA. The tech dept. does not talk to the RMA dept. Finally got the replacement drive after emailing ocz several times and calling twice. The returned drive came from China and is a new drive. Ocz does not refurbish the returned drives. After reinstalling the OS in the new drive I was just about to reinstall all my programs when after shuting off the computer for the night, I restarted it in the morning only to have the boot freese at the bios screen and would not advance to Windows. With only 2 hours run time the replacement has failed again. Again going through the hassle of getting a RMA from ocz I was sent a replacement drive. I did not want to go through this again and bought a larger drive, for less money from another company. So far so good with my Corsair Force GT 120 gb drive.

I have a 2008 Macbook 13" unibodoy and I was looking for a possibility to speed up the computer, especially when I have a lot of programs open. Consequently, when many programs are open, there is a lot of swapping happening between the RAM and the harddrive involved and that costs a lot of time.Since solid state discs (SSDs) have only a limited capacity and are still quite expensive I was first quite hesitant. However, I found a solution that involves removing the optical drive in my macbook and adding a second harddrive (Optibay from MCE tech) which in my case is the SSD from OCZ (OCZ Vertex Turbo 60GB).And now I'm having all my system files with Snow Leopard installed on the vertex SSD + iLife, MS Office and other programs which adds up to about 35GB of disc space. My user folder including media files are stored on my second harddrive (WD blue scorpio 640GB). The system is incredibly fast - boot, load and response times are just amazingly short.Opening MS Powerpoint for example used to take between 20-30 sec on my 7200.3 Seagate Momentus harddrive vs. now around 5 seconds with the OCZ vertex SSD. To give you guys some more facts I'll post the Xbench benchmark results right here:Seagate Momentus 7200.3 320GB System Info Xbench Version 1.3 System Version 10.6.2 (10C540) Physical RAM 4096 MB Model MacBook5,1 Drive Type ST9320421AS Disk Test 49.98 Sequential 102.02 Uncached Write 103.60 63.61 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 98.00 55.45 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 93.45 27.35 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 115.58 58.09 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 33.10 Uncached Write 10.57 1.12 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 137.02 43.86 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 88.46 0.63 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 130.54 24.22 MB/sec [256K blocks]OCZ Vertex turbo 60GB System Info Xbench Version 1.3 System Version 10.6.2 (10C540) Physical RAM 4096 MB Model MacBook5,1 Drive Type OCZ VERTEX-TURBO Disk Test 239.27 Sequential 214.60 Uncached Write 257.62 158.18 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 241.47 136.63 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 124.61 36.47 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 385.86 193.93 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 270.34 Uncached Write 91.34 9.67 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 435.47 139.41 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 2491.69 17.66 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 869.37 161.32 MB/sec [256K blocks]Especially, the uncached read with 4K blocks seems to be heavily impacted by the OCZ vertex turbo SSD. Everything else is between 2.5x to 4x faster. And it really feels so much faster. It's definitely worth considering the upgrade.Amazon Prime 2day shipping took actually only 1 day which was quite a treat. Amazons shipping is anyways really reliable and that just adds to this wonderful product. I'm very happy about my purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who considers getting a SSD for their computer system.
