By Man Friday
Pros: Better performance than the WD80 HDD from Compaq EVO N610c it replaced. Improved battery life. the improvements are marginal.Cons: Not the fastest SSD out there but for PATA interface in such an old laptop my expectations were met. Difficult physical install (this is caused by laptop not SSD).Other Thoughts: this is boot drive for XP based system, cloned drives using Arcronis, no issues. Booted no issues, noticeable performance improvement but nothing special, this is a part time test system so requirements are low. installed SSDTWEAK to set correct parms for SSD in XP system.

Been using this ssd for a week in a 9 year old Motion Computing M1400 running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1. Works as advertised, the performance improvement is astronomical (from a dying 4.2k hdd) and the power consumption seems to be noticeable (but not by much because of the age of the system). Shipping was fast. I have another M1400 that will probably get the same upgrade. Given the poor availability of tablets with real digitizers (stylus for inking for notetaking) this ssd has given new life to a device that is good enough for class and meeting notes.

I have an older PC that's used for a weekly automation task. It had an older 20G IDE drive, which was beginning to show errors on some diagnostics. Since this task must run--and run unattended, I decided to switch to an SSD drive and eliminate all moving parts in the disk subsystem.Installation was easy, and everything is working as smoothly as ever--boot time is reduced, too!
